Here are two great Bill Keith arrangements which he introduced at the Newport Folk Festival a long time ago (circa 1965). Bill changed how Bluegrass Banjo would sound from that day on.
He introduced his new way of playing bluegrass in a melodic style which captured/played more of the melody of a banjo tune and that style became known as melodic bluegrass banjo. What amazed me is that none of the raw power of traditional Scruggs style playing was sacrificed or lost.
These two tunes are among the tunes Bill played at that memorable Festival in 1965 and there are several others in the tab archives...Jack
