I'm learning this tune at the moment and wondered which version of this tune others play? There is a 'basic' and 'advanced' version in Dan Levinson's Old Time Festival Tunes and I seem to be mixing and matching phrases from both versions depending on what feels good to me. And I love the version (titled 'Indian Eat a Woodpecker') on Bigfoot's 'I got a Bulldog' cd. I'm interested where did others get their version or combination of versions? And does the wonderful 'bounce' and danceability of this tune come more easily with one or other version or by including or omitting certain left-hand options?
