IMO and others, this should be a sticky:

I see a lot of requests for Tabs here in this section, some of them are well thought out and very specific, and others are very ambiguous. People who ask for specific things usually are rewarded with what they ask for, while those who ask for Tab in the most general of terms are usually met with a lot of questions and head shaking. Here are some things that may help someone to get what they want.

1. If you want a tab of a song from a specific artist, then give us the name of that artist along with the name of the song and link a video or an mp3 that has the version that you want. (BTW first time posters are not allowed to post links until their 4th post.) This way if some nice person decides to create a tab for you, they won't be wasting the hours it may take by tabbing out something you may not want.

2. If you don't have a preference of a specific version/recording of a song, then let everyone know the tuning and what style of banjo you play. Bluegrass, Clawhammer, 2 and 3 finger Old-Time, 4-String Jazz, 4-String Irish and Classic Style are all approached differently.

3. If you want a tab of some song or tune that doesn't have banjo in it then you should also let everyone know what style of banjo you play in addition to your skill level. Maybe you want Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen for beginner Clawhammer, or an intermediate Scruggs version of On the Road Again by Willie Nelson, or an advanced 4-String Jazz version of Take the A train by Duke Ellington.

4. When you request your tab, put meaningful information in the title of your post so that people will open it and read it. When I see the title of a post and it says "Tab Requested" or "Question" without any further information, I skip over that post. At least write the name of the song and the style you want or the name of the song and the artist. Such as: "Tab for Down the Road by JD Crowe" or "Clawhammer tab for Loch Lomond"

5. If you want to be able to sing with your tab, tell us what key you want it in. If you're not sure about how to determine the key try to give us the name of the first note of the melody. To do this hit a single note anywhere on the fingerboard and start singing the song from that note. Try other pitches until you find a comfortable  range for your voice. If this paragraph makes no sense you might say " Original key."

Just some basic Ideas. Anyone else have any good ideas?
