A friend and good customer of mine requested Levon's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" a few months ago...
Took a couple of days, but I worked up a decent rendition in Fakebook style... it has all the lyrics, the back-up and a mostly open-position 3-finger style solo...
"The Band" could be heard frequently back in the 1970s, Friday mornings on KSH-95 in St. Louis.
The graphic arts school I was in back in those days had a nice radio going during our creative hours in the classes...
Levon's voice frequented our ears via that radio... in the good old days...
Key of G, pick hand fingerings included...

Separately, while I was working on the arrangement in Tabledit, I watched several videos of the Band playing this great original of theirs...
There were many shots of the guys sitting around between songs and back stage, etc. hanging out and smoking cigarettes...
I'm just here to tell those of you who smoke that now would be a great time to quit...
I have numerous friends, one of them a formerly talented singer... who have already lost vocals chords (surgically removed), lungs and other similar body parts to cancer.
More than likely caused by years of smoking.
My own mother survived a heart transplant only to be taken 9 years later by lung cancer.
If mom was here now, she would want me to warn you about the dangers of smoking...
And the price of cigarettes?
Brother, can I bum a smoke? Hell NO! They cost too much!
If you put that $5+ into an interest-bearing account over the course of all the years you smoked, you'd could be buying some nice banjos...
Or quite a few new packs of strings for your favorite instrument...
Kids and folks... smoking is bad habit that can kill you... invest in your musical future... DON'T SMOKE!
