Maybe it's just me, but when I listen to New Wave hits from the late 70s/early 80s, I can often imagine a banjo cover. Songs like Heart of Glass by Blondie, Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, I Ran So Far Away by Flock of Seagulls.... many of them have a repetitive, percussive accompaniment style that would seem to adapt easily to banjo.
But when I sit down to play them, I seem to just fall into the old familiar Scruggs rolls, and the covers don't sound on my banjo the way they did in my head!
Anyone have any tabs for songs of that genre, or recommendations of covers worth listening to so that I can try to wrap my head around an approach?
