Bear Tracks J. D. Crowe bends

Howdy J.D. lovers,

Contrary to what I've read, J. D. does not bend the first string in his early version of this tune or at least I don't hear it. There has been much debate about this and I think that what most people hear is Jim Mills version. I believe Jim does bend the first string.

My tabbed version is based on J.D.'s early version. Here's an mp3 of the tune played by J. D. Crowe. Happy Holidays...Jack Baker

Am after some tab for playing Plastic Jesus (Cool Hand Luke) scruggs style. It is such a haunting melody but appears scarce on the internet. The Banjo Hangout archives dont seem to have it anymore. Even a melodic style tab would give me something to pick around.

Thanks in advance

How to download Tabrite .bjo files using Tabledit to open

Howdy,

For those who use Tabledit as their tab viewing program, you can no longer go to the BHO tab archive and just click on a "Tabrite" .bjo file and tell it to open by clicking on the .bjo file. At least this has been my experience on my new HP laptop with the Windows 7 operating system.

You must first right click on the Tabrite file and tell it to "save as" to your Tabledit program directory where you save your banjo files and then open any Tabledit tab and use the dropdown arrow to the .bjo extension which Tabledit does have available and "presto" it will open the .bjo file.

This is how I now have to open Tabrite files on my new HP laptop computer with Windows 7 as the operating system. If anybody has an easier way please chime in :-)...Jack Baker   p.s. thanks to Don Borchelt for clueing me in on how to do this :-)

This Cuban song has simple chord progressions of C, F, and G. Quite pretty on the banjer when strumming along with my wife on her guitar but it begs for some three finger rolls. Anyone want to take a shot at a Scruggs style tab?

Hello all,

In the tab archive, which tab is the closest to Don's break? If so, could someone please send it to me as a PDF copy? They are all tabledit files, and my certain computer crashes when I open them. Why? You've got me. I've tried everything.

My email is vcp430@aol.com.

Thank you very much!

Hi all, I got a banjo about a year ago and am just now getting to where I have the time to play/practice. There's just one problem.......I have no clue where to begin! I know a few chords and rolls, but other than that I'm lost. Anytime I find a tab or tutorial online it always seems too fancy and i get frustrated! Then I'll give up which frustrates me even more! It's a vicious cycle.. I know I have the patience to learn somewhere inside of me, but I just need someone to guide me in the right direction.

Is there anyone on this site who wouldnt mind helping out a pathetic beginner like me? My question is, what are some good "beginner" songs to learn. I'm interested in all styles of music. Would someone mind tabbing out a popular tune for me? Even if its just the intro to a song, that' s perfectly fine with me

please, please, please, and thank you!!!

Does anyone have a tabbed out version of this song?  I love the miserable sound of Steve's banjo and would love to learn this song.  Poking around on here there appears to have been a few requests, but nothing ever showed up in the end result.
